Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Daniel Haughton exploded into fame in 1994 when she released her album debut Age Ain't Nothing But A Numer. She was only 15 at when the album was released and it was later renamed Gold. R. Kelly was a key influence on the collaboration which brought her into the spotlight. In 1996, she released her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the top-selling track If Your Girl Only knew. Aaliyah achieved international recognition for her R&B singing with the release of this album. She made her debut in 2000. co-starred with the martial arts icon Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her during an awards show and suggested her this part. In 2002, she was able to appear in the horror film Queen of the Damned which was based on the Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels was her first appearance in The Matrix Sequels. She had also appeared on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (2007). She received four Grammy nominations in 2001, 1999, 2002 and 2003. The actress is Indian American of the her first generation, born in Connecticut. Mann is her stage name. It is an acronym for Mankad which is her name as a married surname. But, she has both Aarti Mann and Aarti Majumdar for professional names. Although she began her acting career in film and TV with a few minor parts, her acting career started to gain speed in the late 2000s. Other notable work includes Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She's also appeared in major commercials of brands such as Volvo the world's largest auto producer. She has a daughter, is a resident of Los Angeles and is pursuing her acting.
