Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is a famous American woman of business. Buss is the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently is the president of the organization. Buss is a native of California and grew up an heir to a prestigious family. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon, who was later the proprietor of the Lakers as well as other sports companies. The couple divorced in 1972, which caused her to feel like she was left behind. As she turned 19 old she joined the family's business, serving as general manager of the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. In the following years, she created the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She was the President of Great Western Forum prior to becoming the vice-president of Lakers.
